The Venues

The T20 World Cup 2024 will be played across three major USA cities: Dallas, Miami, and New York. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the following venues for the tournament1:

  • Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas, which has a capacity of 5,000 spectators. It is the home ground of the Texas Typhoons, one of the six teams in the Major League Cricket (MLC), which is the first professional cricket league in the USA. Grand Prairie Stadium has been chosen to host all MLC games in 2023, making it the premier cricket venue in the country.

 

  • Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida, which has a capacity of 20,000 spectators. It is the only cricket stadium in the USA that has been certified by the ICC to host international matches. It has hosted four Twenty20 Internationals since 2010, featuring teams like India, West Indies, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. It has also hosted several ICC Americas regional tournaments, such as the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier.

 

  • Eisenhower Park in Nassau County, New York, which will have a capacity of 34,000 spectators. It is a purpose-built sports and events park that will host the T20 World Cup 2024 with a modular stadium solution. An agreement has been reached for the construction of the stadium, which will be the largest cricket venue in the USA, subject to the awarding of the required permit next month.

The Teams

The T20 World Cup 2024 will have 20 teams competing for the trophy, which is the highest number of teams in any T20 World Cup so far. The teams are divided into four groups of five teams each, based on the ICC T20I Team Rankings as of November 30, 2022. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 12 stage, where they will be split into two groups of six teams each. The top two teams from each Super 12 group will qualify for the semi-finals, and the winners of the semi-finals will play in the final. The groups are as follows2:

  • Group A: India, England, Afghanistan, Ireland, Papua New Guinea
  • Group B: Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, Oman
  • Group C: West Indies, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Namibia
  • Group D: South Africa, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Nepal, USA

The Schedule

The T20 World Cup 2024 will kick off on June 4, 2024, with the opening match between the hosts West Indies and New Zealand at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The group stage will run until June 15, 2024, with matches being played in the West Indies and the USA.

The Super 12 stage will start on June 18, 2024, with matches being played in the USA only. The semi-finals will be held on June 27 and 28, 2024, at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium and the Eisenhower Park respectively.

The ICC has launched a new vibrant logo for the T20 World Cup 2024, which reflects the culture and diversity of the host nations. 

The logo features a stylized cricket ball with a star in the center, representing the USA, and a palm tree, representing the West Indies. 

The logo also incorporates the colors of the flags of both the host nations, as well as the ICC branding. The logo was designed by a creative agency based in London, and was unveiled on December 7, 20234.
